Raw Emotions and Some Nguni

Hello!

I am back on track with a head splitting migraine. 100% green juice-ing on DAY 1 and it is already detoxing me at 4 pm in the afternoon!     AND ...It's all my Swedish friend's fault ; ) She made me read Raw Emotions by Angela Stokes. Thank you, Annika!  xxxx

I read almost all of Angela's blog entries for around the time that she was Green Juice Feasting and I am hooked! I know this could be yet another form of extremism and polarizing - yet I am actually desperate for cleansing on a LARGE scale. Contemplating 92 days in all seriousness. I feel this almost physical tangible need to shed my skin and renew down to the finest cellular level. Body cleansing and spiritual cleansing all at once and a house move on the horizon and it's 2012!! Are we crazy yet??

Well this is it. I'm committed to a Juice Feast of length. I know as it goes on, it get's easier... then heavenly, so I am going to pray for help with staying on track.
Speaking of which - I took a long hard look at the GoalsOnTrack programme suggested to me and felt SO restricted and claustrophobic at the thought of being yet again glued to this machine...?? Could be wrong. Any creative out there using and enjoying it??

This guy was so funny. When he saw me taking photo's he came closer, stared for a while as if to understand what I was doing.  Then he ran a little way and did a fancy back kick into the air and turned to look at me again. As if to say: "Did you get that?" Who knew cattle were so cute?? I couldn't stop giggling...

Back to Goals On Track: I have a serious artist brain when it comes to 'admin-y' looking blocks of info!! So, I tried to imagine how it would work for me and I noticed it has an i-phone app. That suddenly got me more interested. My husband darlingest is getting me an i-phone and I think I may just be more inclined to use it that way?? Not sure. I still love my old diary/journal format. The long hand writing works magic for me... What I realised is that I want it all in ONE book, with tear-out-able TODAY pages to put up on my pinboard. So going to find the right binder to pull both my journal and diary together. Any suggestions for an all-in -one non techno such thing?

I can't believe I am so techno-phobic when it comes to diaries...really odd - but I'm flowing with it. I like to doodle around dates and express goals in pictures as well as words and use colours etc etc....maybe that's it. The bottom line is STICK-TO-IT-IVENESS!! Which is up to me - no matter what format my goal setting tools are in.

Natural History Repeats Itself

Aaaah.... Back to familiar ground. My Natural History Collection is expanding into a fabric range. I am just so captivated by the ease with which nature's forms create art. It's so unassuming. So clean in its simplicity and lyrical with every line. I love that I don't need to change a thing....it just is.

207 I found this dried out aloe and formidable thorns a block away from my house in Darling...on someone's discarded garden refuse - waiting for the collection truck. Darlinger's have some truly beautiful gardens...

I will feel a little sad to leave here.

The beach is so close.... and my sea snail and shell collection is now cumbersome in it's enormity ....

Churchhaven - the beach in the nature reserve of Langebaan lagoon has some really interesting ancient shells that I find sticking out of the very bottom layers of sand dunes.

The blue grey centipede / shongologo was lying high on top - bleached into paleness from its original rich brown black shininess by the relentless summer sun.

Once, on a walk I found 23 seagull skeletons in a sand dune. By chance. I saw a yellowing bone sticking out of the sand and as I pulled it- the rest tumbled down, revealing bone upon bone. Skulls of all sizes. even the delicate rings of cartilage around the legs. they blew away in the wind as I lifted them ...

Shards from the Karoo... and Lo! I even found shards around my own garden! Stamps from my husbands old childhood collection...can you spot the stamp?

I can do that! Cute Art: Check.

So they asked me to do some cute art (read: kitsch - they even sent examples) -  for gift cards. I was like...wa-a-a-ah??? And then I told my 8 year old and he started drawing and next thing you know... I was right there in his cute little world with him.... So this is some of what I did - with art direction from Jude Fanner - Rather Serious Art Guy, aged 8.

Oh, and it gave me a chance to try out my new scanner: Epson Perfection - their words, not mine : )
